Not everyone will get the same rapid or positive response. BUT UNLESS you do it you won’t know. Here’s what Survivor has just had to say:
Letters like this get results. I wrote to my MP yesterday with the above and he emailed me today promising to raise the matter with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Write now, write now, write now.

I have just sent him the following reminder:
Dear Mr Field
Thanks for getting back to me. I wonder if you have yet had any response from the Justice Secretary or the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
This is a huge national scandal, very similar to the wave of illegally forced repossessions that the courts have now ordered a suspension of in the USA.
Every day the FSA and other regulatory authorities delay, dozens of frightened and vulnerable families are made homeless to feed the profits of secretive asset-strippers, with no benefit to the UK economy. This is the very very dark side of loose financial regulation so associated with your government’s predecessors and which the coalition has pledged to reform. I urge you please to press this
matter, not because of my particular case but that of some 90,000 others who feel less able to speak out and be counted.
Yours sincerely
