The Treasury Select Committee
The Treasury Select Committee have made a series of wide ranging investigations into sub -prime lending and the negative effects and consequences of these practices upon the borrower.
They are particularly interested in hearing from us, mainly because as a newly reconstituted committee they want to show some grit, but also because they have a duty to carry on the work conducted by the previous TSC.
The current chair , Andrew Tyrie, was a former prominent member, so that should provide some continuity to the work of the committee.
The Rt Hon. John McFall is no longer chair or even a member of the committee, or indeed the Commons. He stood down in the run up to the 2010 General Election and was susbsequently made a peer.
The most important report is the following: Click for access.
This is the current membership: (By clicking on the name their contact details will pop up in a new window).
As yet, unless your are confident in what you have to say about the disgusting Capstone Mortgage Services, please wait. We will post some pointers on the correct way of approaching the following members. Please remember emotion and abuse are very rarely productive. The members of the Committee can help but are less likely to do so if you are not factual, clear and precise in stating your grievances.

Any updates on this? I would like to write to these people rather urgently.
Nobody follows these things up.
It’s very frustrating, but you have to realise that peeps are frightened, under enormous pressure and almost certainly broke. If they can’t act as an advocate in their own cause, my argument would be why should they have to get these abuses sorted themselves. That’s what the system is supposed to be there for. We’re lucky. We are articulate, savvy and know the score. Many of us myself included, have been on a massive learning curve with this, but its been a massive struggle to prise the door open because no-one was listening. Now someone is listening we have a massive opportunity which simply cannot be missed. I suspect not a single TSC member has been contacted concerning this.
But I am a savvy person and would like to write to these people, who may be able to make a difference, but you say:

Hi Survivor
That’s because it was written some time ago. This is meant in essence to be a collaborative effort. We want people to be advocates in their own cause to build up a critical mass of complaint. Experience shows though that very few people do.
..
So in effect we must do it for them. Your efforts and commitment to the cause have been a revelation. This is why we posted your MP complaint letter straight onto the front page. We will also do the same with your Civil Justice Council Letter. Please do this. it would be tremendously helpful.
CMS.
I think some people are born campaigners. We both are. Others are not.
But we have to try to make things easy for people who are less savvy.
Absolutely Agree and I’m sure you’ll see that with all our different templates and resources that is what we have tried to do. No resource is perfect and there are gaps such as the ones you identify and are now working so hard to remedy. In reality only maybe three four people do this work so stuff gets set up and then we get buffeted by events such as new developments or personal, family and work commitments so the site is far from perfect. Your contribution and reinvigoration of the site, couldn’t have been more timely. Way to go. Let’s topple this garbage before there are too many more victims of this disgusting enterprise.
I think the main thing is that this website exists. It gives succour to the dispossessed–and potentially repossessed. It’s not perfect, but no website is. It is always a work in progress.
Thank you for setting up this website and thank you for your very kind comments about my contributions.
I hope I can do more to help.
